The Anti-Rug-Pull QR Code & Link Toolkit

Hi, I'm Craig. I've made my living building websites since 2004, and Link Code Generator exists because I got tired of watching a simple, solved problem (put some text in a QR code, add UTM tags to a URL) get turned into a $200+/year subscription with traps in the fine print.

How this site actually started

This wasn't a startup idea. It was a folder on my computer.

I've been building and marketing websites for over twenty years, and over that time I collected the link snippets and mini-generators I kept reusing: UTM-tagged campaign URLs, WhatsApp click-to-chat links, mailto links with pre-filled subjects, redirect code for cloaking messy affiliate URLs. The stuff every marketer needs weekly and rebuilds from memory every time.

One day I cleaned up the collection, gave it a proper interface, and put it online. That's Link Code Generator: my working toolkit, made public. It's grown to 30+ tools because people kept emailing me asking for "one more," and honestly, I keep needing one more too.

The problem with this industry

Search Reddit for QR code generators and you'll find the same horror stories over and over:

  • Codes made on a "free trial" that die when the trial ends, even after they've been printed on 500 flyers.
  • Printed codes silently redirected to a "subscribe to continue" page (or worse) because an account lapsed.
  • "Free" codes with hidden scan limits that stop working mid-campaign.
  • $1 trials that quietly convert into $40+/month subscriptions with no warning email and no human to call.

Here's the part that bothers me most: none of that is a technical necessity. It's a business-model choice. A QR code is just data encoded in an image. It only expires if a company deliberately routes it through their servers so they can hold it hostage.

How we're built differently

  • 1Static QR codes are generated in your browser. The data is encoded directly into the image. It never touches our servers. There is no account, no trial, and no kill switch, because there is literally nothing on our end to switch off. If this website disappeared tomorrow, every static code ever made here would keep scanning forever.
  • 2Your data stays yours. URLs, phone numbers, WiFi passwords — processed in your browser, not stored by us (unless you sign in and choose to save a project).
  • 3Dynamic QR codes (Pro) fail safe, not hostile. If your Pro plan lapses, your printed dynamic codes keep redirecting to their current destination. You lose editing until you reactivate, but you never lose the code. We will never point your code anywhere you didn't choose.
  • 4No trial traps. There is no free trial that converts into a charge. The free tools are simply free. Pro is a plain subscription you can cancel in one click from your dashboard, and it comes with a 14-day, 100%, no-questions money-back guarantee.
  • 5A real human answers. Support emails come to me. I'm one person, so I won't pretend it's instant, but it's never a bot, and printed-material emergencies go to the top of the pile.

Honest about where we are

I won't pretend this is a finished product built by a big team. It's one founder, shipping improvements almost every week, mostly driven by user emails. Some tools are deeper than others. Some features (like bulk CSV generation) are still being built. You'll see them marked "coming soon," never sold as done. If something is broken or missing, tell me; the roadmap genuinely is the inbox.

How the site makes money

Two ways: non-intrusive ads shown to free visitors, and Pro subscriptions ($79/year) for power features like unlimited vector exports, dynamic QR codes, and scan analytics. That's it. We don't sell data, and free never means "bait."
